Nancy began practicing yoga as a teenager in the 1970's relying on books and a popular
syndicated TV program for her early instruction. In 1987 she began taking classes in
Minneapolis and since that time, for nearly twenty years, she has trained with instructors in
the Iyengar tradition. Ramanand Patel, Roger Cole and Patricia Sullivan are highly respected
teachers with whom she studies regularly. A student at The Yoga Room from 1995, she
soon became a teacher and eventually purchased the studio in 2002. Nancy holds a 1,000
hour teaching certificate from the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors and is registered with
Yoga Alliance at the highest level. She worked in the medical field (domestic and
international sales and marketing) for twenty years before making this a full-time profession.
As the owner of the studio, Nancy welcomes your comments or suggestions.
Kaaren began practicing yoga in 2000 with Betty Larsen at The Yoga Room. She retired from the practice of law and began her second career as a professional artist by this time. Yoga quickly became a passion for her. Since that first class, Kaaren has attended workshops with Ramanand Patel, Patricia Sullivan, Francois Roualt, Roger Cole and taken classes with a number of excellent teachers. In March 2005, Kaaren completed a 1,000-hour course in yoga teacher training offered by the Southern Institute of Yoga Instructors. Teaching is her way of passing along the wealth of information which has been shared with her by her own guides and teachers.

Miles, RYT
Larry Miles is a 6th grade math teacher at Cameron Middle School in Nashville. He
has been an educator for six years. He enjoys helping students understand
mathematical concepts and developing the ability to solve real-world problems. This
year, Miles began a 'yoga club' at his school, where he hopes to teach students about
body awareness, physical movement, as well as relaxation techniques. Miles'
appreciation for yoga began about five years ago after borrowing a Rodney Yee tape
from a friend. After his the first home practice, Miles was immediately captivated.
Drawn in by yoga's physical demands as well as its ability to help still the mind,

Miles has continued to study yoga on his own, as well as recently completing Yoga Teacher Certification training at
The Yoga School in 2007. Miles has traveled for much of his life, living in Germany for several years as well as
Okalahoma, Georgia, and South Carolina. Having the opportunity to travel has given Miles a unique perspective on the
similarities and differences between various cultures. Miles hopes that this insight will allow him to communicate the
benefits of yoga effectively to those with whom he comes in contact.
