Lady Niguma
Yoga Series  Friday Morning 8:30 – 10:00
A powerful yoga to purify negative emotions and open the heart.
This powerful yoga was developed in the 11th century by Lady
Niguma and is the only known series specifically designed by a female
yoga master from ancient India.
Lady Niguma's yoga is specifically designed to eliminate the negative
emotions that prevent us from achieving the life we want by using
asanas to transform the inner body. Her yoga works to open the chakras
in the body, creating the climate for happiness.
Lady Niguma’s yoga purifies the mind and the body. Working from
muladhara chakra (at the root/perineum) up to mahasukha chakra (at the
crown of the head), each knot in the subtle body is loosened and
stretched so that constricted prana can be released from the side
channels (ida and pingala nadi) and flow in the central channel
(sushumna nadi).
This series is deeply powerful but gently accessible to students of
all levels, even total newbies!

Cost : The suggested donation for the class is $10. However, that being said, yoga is a
blessing to the world and should be accessible to anyone whether they can afford it or
not.  So, come along and we will work out the details later.  Okay?  See you at class.

about David
The practice of yoga is a direct highway to a well of infinite love deep in the center of our
beings. As yoga is practiced on and off the mat, it can only lead to greater happiness and
joy. Who would have thought that I would become a yoga teacher? Maybe my mom…who
introduced me to yoga on the beaches of Ireland over 25 years ago. I remember watching
her demonstrate the well-known poses of Warrior II and Triangle. She has been a yoga
teacher for many years now. Spirituality has always been a high priority for my parents.

I moved to America in 1989 on a tennis scholarship to Middle Tennessee State
University. Competitive tennis and a professional tennis career was my goal at the time.
In order to help me achieve an optimal performance level, meditation and visualization
began to become an integral part of my training regime.
In the following years, I became the Women’s Tennis Coach at MTSU and then the
Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Vanderbilt. In addition to a tough physical program, I
tried to provide an environment where players achieved a balance of mental and
emotional development on and off the court. Personally I underwent some growth that
necessitated the need for meditation and a new perspective. During these years, I began
to spend more and more time meditating, studying eastern philosophy with a strong
inclination towards Buddhism, and yoga. Although I am a professional tennis coach at a
local club, an inner passion has emerged to teach yoga.

After spending so many years learning the knowledge and wisdom of yoga, it seems like
a natural progression to teach it. After teaching tennis for 17 years - - the discipline may
change, but I am still a teacher at heart. I love to see people develop, learn, and become
more than they thought possible.
I have a Masters Degree in Health / Physical Education and Recreation from MTSU.I have
had the great fortune to receive amazing teachings from Geshe Michael Roche and
Winston McCullough. Both are tremendous teachers. Through my association with
Diamond Mountain, I have completed 18 Asian Classics Institute courses.

The two special people in my life are my wife, Michelle, who teaches second grade and
my daughter, Maeve, who just began kindergarten.
I owe a lot to all of the amazing teachers who have taken the time to share yoga with the
world. I hope that I can honor them by making a difference.
